The MCP73832T-2ACI/MC is a fully integrated single-cell lithium-ion/lithium-polymer charge management controller. This complete system-on-chip solution incorporates power MOSFET, voltage reference, current sensing, charge state logic and thermal regulation circuitry, eliminating the need for external power FET and current sense resistor.

The controller implements a comprehensive three-stage charging profile:

Charging terminates automatically when the charging current drops below a preset threshold. Built-in safety protections include thermal shutdown, overvoltage protection, reverse discharge blocking, short-circuit protection and battery temperature monitoring interface.

Key features include programmable charge current via a single external resistor, selectable end-of-charge voltage options, and open-drain status output to indicate charging, complete or fault conditions. Low quiescent current minimizes battery drain when the power adapter is disconnected.
