The BQ40Z80RSMT is a fully integrated high-precision battery pack management and protection chip developed by TI.

  • Dual Balancing Modes: Supports both active and passive balancing with stronger balancing capability compared to single passive balancing, improving overall performance and service life of multi-cell battery packs.
  • Comprehensive Battery Monitoring: Integrates high-precision analog front-end (AFE) to accurately measure battery cell voltage, charge/discharge current, and temperature, supporting capacities up to 29Ah natively with extension capability.
  • Multi-Cell Compatibility: Designed for 2-6 series-connected battery packs, compatible with Li-ion, Li-poly, and LiFePO4 battery chemistries for wide range of high-power applications.
  • Secure Authentication: Supports Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) or SHA-1 authentication with secure memory for storing authentication keys to prevent counterfeiting.
  • Comprehensive Protection Functions: Programmable over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature protection with thermal shutdown, CHG/DSG FET protection, and AFE protection.
